Bangladesh University Becomes Runner-Up in ULAB Fair Play Cup Cricket Tournament.
Bangladesh University has emerged as the runner-up in the 11th ULAB Fair Play Cup T20 Cricket Tournament, organized by the University of Liberal Arts Bangladesh (ULAB). The host team, ULAB, became the champions of the tournament.
In the final match held yesterday morning, Thursday (March 29, 2018), at the ULAB sports ground, the host team won the toss and elected to field, sending Bangladesh University to bat first. BU managed to score 118 runs, losing all their wickets in 19.5 overs out of their stipulated 20 overs. Omar Faruk was the highest scorer for the team with 36 runs. Arifur Rahman of ULAB claimed 3 wickets, conceding 20 runs.
Chasing the target, ULAB reached 119 runs for the loss of 3 wickets in 18.2 overs, ensuring their victory. For the team, Noman Jeko and Sabit Hossain scored 35 and 32 runs, respectively. For Bangladesh University, Shafiqul Islam took 2 wickets for 22 runs.
Arifur Rahman of ULAB was named the Man of the Match for the final. Sabit Hossain of ULAB was adjudged the Man of the Tournament, while his teammate Noman Jeko won the Best Batsman award. The Best Bowler and Best Fielder awards were given to BU’s Shafiqul Islam and Saymon Ahmed, respectively. Following the match, Md. Sohrab Hossain, Secretary of the Ministry of Education, alongside former national team captain Habibul Bashar Sumon, distributed the prizes among the winners.
